Safeguarding

K-HAKI should not expose a child, survivor, person seeking support or community member to avoidable harm. Public stories remove unnecessary identifiers. Consent to attend an activity is not treated as consent to publish a personal case.

Public commitment

• Collect the minimum information needed.
• Use separate consent for sensitive stories and identifiable media.
• Do not publish active case files or legal strategy.
• Escalate immediate safety concerns to appropriate services.

Privacy and data

Website enquiries are prepared through the visitor’s email application. Visitors should not send passwords, identity numbers, intimate images or original evidence through a general enquiry.

Data principle

Explain why information is needed, who can access it, how long it should be kept and how a person can ask for correction or deletion where applicable.

Complaints and feedback

Concerns may relate to staff conduct, safeguarding, discrimination, misuse of information, a programme experience or the accuracy of a public statement.

1. Send a short description to info@kituochahaki.co.ke.
2. State whether anyone is at immediate risk and the safest way to reply.
3. An acknowledgement and responsible review route should be provided.
4. A person implicated in a complaint should not control its review.

Accuracy and correction

Every report-based article includes a source note and limit. If a published statement is inaccurate, K-HAKI should correct the page and keep an internal record of the change.
